The Shen Sha Code: Solitary 孤辰 & Lonesome Star 寡宿

It’s quite common that people mess up the 2 thinking they are the same thing but in reality they are quite different. Even the Death and Emptiness (DE) also carries a similar feeling. The similarity though, is that they are all about being alone and focusing on yourself, hence they are traditionally seen as a bad star.

In my own research I found those who have Solitary star tend to look inward when they hit this phase (natal chart, annual chart, luck pillars). I find that this is also a learning star – except that they are learning a lot more about themselves – the correct word would be soul searching. This is also very similar to when you go through a Death and Emptiness (DE) phase except with a DE, it’s almost never enough.

The whole misconception about the Solitary star is that you’ll end up enclosed in a cave feeling miserable. But actually it’s a time where you want to find more meaning and understand who you are, like for instance picking up spirituality or metaphysics. Apparently this is why you end up seeing people less and enjoy being alone more but looking at our JY learning environment we have so many students who end up becoming life long buddies, so you won’t be alone for sure 🙂 .

The Solitary star can also mean that you leave home a lot, possibly travelling or moving around a lot and hardly at one place for a long time. Also your spirituality pursuits can cause some strain in relationship matters. Which is why the ancient text says this is really bad for relationship matters – but ONLY if you let it.

The Lonesome star however is not something I like to see. In broad terms it means being surrounded by people and still feeling lonely. This can be translated into a few scenarios:

  • You easily feel misunderstood and you think no one will understand you – this mindset is at least fixable.
  • You relocated into a brand new environment and have issues fitting in at that moment – this is also fixable.
  • You are confined in an area where there are a lot of people yet you don’t want to be there – an institution, a halfway home, orphanage or something similar, (in extremely rare cases – a jail cell),  or in more relatable cases, a dead end marriage where everyone at home no longer speaks to each other – some fixable, some not.

The theory says if the stars are your favorable god, loneliness can be overcome – you might even enjoy it a bit too much. If unfavorable, it will be a serious problem.

If you have these stars in your natal chart, you already like to be alone by nature. So you need to consciously bring yourself out of your ‘cave’ and remember that you do need human interaction, human connection. Being in your own head for too long can’t be a good thing anyways.
