The Qimen Method: Qimen Destiny and Career Challenges

Recently I did a number of Qi Men consults and there was one that really caught my eye because although people can tell you that they go through a lot of work challenges, the moment I looked at her chart I was kind of thrown off. It was a 7 Star Ferocious White Tiger Formation (near death but not dead) also with a White Tiger deity in her Qimen Career palace. The first thing I said was wow, your enemies are really vicious – the powerful kind that would go out of their way to kill off her career. Unfortunately she’s also a Gui day master with a Cascading Cloud this year. She just casually nodded.

The thing about charts is that, you can actually use it both ways – meaning you can choose to be the Ferocious White Tiger first. But this is where a consultant comes in, I need to identify which side (the light or the dark) was she on at the moment. I looked at her chart, I looked at her, a person who doesn’t even like to be involved in politics to begin with but is constantly dragged into it.

If that is not bad enough, her Career palace produces her Karmic palace – the lessons you need to learn in this lifetime – which I won’t divulge everything but there was Destructor and Red Phoenix Dive Into River formation which means each time someone uses her as a scapegoat or takes her down (can also mean some were her own lapse of judgement and unwillingness to yield) she will get so upset that she leaves. She will let go and demolish everything she has built in her career and just leave – which is the lesson she’s supposed to learn or life will make her keep rebooting her career again and again until she learns this – How NOT to leave every time someone pisses you off. I realize people do these a lot these days (but I was also guilty of it once upon a time) – You’re not going to be in a perfect career all the time and there are things you will need to fix, FIX it instead of giving up so easily. At the very least, pause before you react.

Thankfully, we’re in metaphysics and there are multiple ways we can do this – you can either tweak your Feng Shui to increase your own energy level or the best tool ever in these situations – Qimen. There are a number of formations you can actually use for self defense – which is either taught in class or shared in consultations when we see fit – the one that I share the most apart from the Double Deception is also a huge upgrade of your own perception of the word ‘Problems’ – use your Chief/9 Heavens/Moon to learn how to embrace problems. Now that you know Qimen, go AROUND it, not run away or head butt it further. Embrace, Learn, Grow, Control. If you run from your lessons, your lessons will run after you again and again.

And in her case, it’s her Karmic lesson. You can’t keep quitting no matter how bad it gets, and it can get really bad. But looking back, is it worth it? Is losing everything you’ve built throughout your years of blood and sweat worth it? If your answer is no, fight the hell back ♥

The Bazi Guide to Office Politics

Recently I’ve had a number of friends come to me about work matters. Not so much about the work opportunities but more about the frustrating work environment. Then I keep seeing this Facebook Ad on my feed about dealing with unbearable office environments like an Evidential Occurrence for me to write about it, haha. The common term used these days is – Toxic Environment.

My Consulting colleagues will agree with me that being in the consulting industry for so many years we change offices or countries every other year, sometimes every other month and being able to work in, work for, be a part of the highest conglomerates down to the smallest factory, we have the opportunity to observe everyone’s different working culture – from the worst conditions right up to the best ones.

I don’t really like to use to word Toxic because one man’s poison is another man’s meat (or treasure so to speak), so anything that makes anyone uncomfortable is just a mismatch of energy. You either like the energy or you don’t. For example many years back I worked in quite a big local company whom I cannot name that has a culture of writing official emails that are filled with 4-letter words to the IT team. Even in their meetings, they have a habit of using belittling terms or throw things (including food) at people around the meeting table where you need to pick them up and smile. I’m not sure if you want to call them Toxic, because everyone else finds it normal, everyone else finds it acceptable. Then anyone who finds this unacceptable will in fact, be the one called Toxic. So I’d just like to term it as an energy mismatch.

Maybe an egoistic man will have an energy mismatch with a team full of female leaders? Maybe a highly intelligent person will have a mismatch in a team full of intellectually-challenged people? Maybe a no-nonsense person will have a mismatch in a team full of people with misconduct… so on and so forth… you get my drift.

So how do we fix this? Usually there is nothing to fix – if you’re uncomfortable just leave. Unless you were brought on board with the sole purpose of changing this culture by the management, you can’t do much about it except be aware and stay out of the warzone as much as you can.

We can do this in Bazi by foreseeing what’s to come and that is by looking at your Bazi MONTH pillar. Since I’m used to changing companies/projects every other month or year I only look at the annual Shen Sha. But logically, let’s survive one year first and we’ll see what we can do about the next year later, fair enough?

Firstly, there are 3 stems that are *more* inclined to dabble in office politics, so generally if your natal chart Xin, Yi or Geng percentage is quite high and without Death and Emptiness you have a higher tendency to be the one playing some sort of politics at your workplace.

After a few discussions with my esteemed apprentice buddies we decided the best way to look at Office Politics is still using Shen Sha (Auxiliary Stars).

So if you’re born with General Star / Fui Kong / Kui Gang 魁罡 – 庚辰、壬辰、戊戌、庚戌 (which is my next post), you’re quite a natural at playing politics to begin with. Your crude and ruthless character at work also naturally draws enemies to you. Even more so if you have a natal Cascading Cloud, which is the Geng Chen 庚辰.

Thirdly, would be a year of Harm interaction, which would be those with Monkey year/month for this year, you’re likely to be faced with betrayals – you can narrow down the details by looking at the 10 Gods.

For the rest of you, open up your own chart and scroll to this area:

AnnualSS.PNG

Just look at your Month pillar for all work related matters. Year if you want to see if your clients/customers are the ones giving you trouble. You can totally ignore the Day and Hour for this topic.

So the Shen Sha (Auxiliary Stars) to warn you of impending politics entering your life for the entire year would be – the more you have the more intense it will be:

  1. Cascading Cloud 流霞
  2. Five Ghost 五鬼
  3. Curled Tongue 啳舌
  4. Back Poking 指背
  5. Yin Sha 阴煞
  6. White Tiger 白虎
  7. Entangling Hook 勾絞
  8. Piercing Rope 贯索
  9. Robbery Sha 劫煞 (I still consider this cos it still shows competition taking what you have)

They range from rumor mongers, harassment, slander, betrayal, frenemies, competitors, robbers, jealous co-workers, attackers, opportunists and saboteurs. Some can even plot your downfall and put you in jail. If you want to narrow down the people involved you may check the 10 Gods.

My theory is very simple: If you have whatever I’ve mention in your natal chart, then you might be the one doing it. But if it suddenly comes in from the Annual Pillar, you’re more likely the victim of it.

Personally I’ve never been a fan of playing dirty politics and I’m quite known in my industry for this stand as well. But then again I’m also not against anyone who uses it as their ladder to success – if you need it I’d still advice people to use it. So to each their own and to the rest (especially all those with a Gui this year)…. protect ourselves 😀

The 10 Gods Code to Startup and Career Weaknesses

Career and business is something I enjoy analyzing as well, I think this is the easiest for me in my Business/IT consulting line to monitor and accumulate statistics based on the amount of different companies and industries I have worked for, with my entire circle of colleagues changing whenever I move projects as well. No matter my colleague, ex-colleague or clients, I came to the conclusion that a lot of people actually wanted to know if there were even doing the right thing in the first place. Personally I place more importance in a person’s skill set before I take note of the industry. To me, if you’re not even doing the right thing there’s not much point being in the “right industry” as well.

I shared a bit of this in my previous Smart Money workshop where I helped you identify you own strengths and weaknesses to ensure you’re in the ‘path of maximum returns’. We also call this the ‘path of least resistance’, where things are easier.

When the wind is with your sail doors open wider and opportunities show up faster. We all agree with that. There’s also a smaller percentage who goes against this, doing everything the hard way and be equally successful. Right now, we’re determining the easier method. Riding with the wind rather than against it. Both gets you to the destination in different time and speed.

So regardless of what you want or where you want to be, you still need to know where you are at the moment and what you’re lacking to get there. And it’s not that hard at all.

Go to your own chart, scroll all the way down to look for this:

Now, not only we can identify your personal strength and weaknesses, but if you’re a sole business owner, start-up enthusiast, you can even identify the “blind spot” or potential problem areas in your business.

Anything 0%, anything 1-20% and 95-100% (rough estimation – don’t be so anal. 1-2% difference is not going to make you any much better or worse okay) is your Weakness. The top 3 after that is your Strength.

In the example above:

Weakness:

  • Rob Wealth
  • Direct Officer
  • Direct Wealth
  • Eating God

Strength (the next top 3):

  • Friend
  • Indirect Resource
  • Direct Resource

(Anything 100% without a DE is something you’re likely to be overconfident in. Like owning 10 luxury cars and hardly even using one. Hence we see it as a weakness)

Got it?

Natal or Yearly? In some years you suddenly find yourself given the opportunity (or less opportunities) to work on certain skill sets. Whether you take it up or not, is entirely your choice. So I prefer to look at Natal.

The Strengths are all written in most of your notes. So let’s go to the Weaknesses instead, this would be what is missing or at an unhealthy state:
Missing 10 Gods:

  • Friend
    • Lacking confidence, problems with creating turn key solutions, problems with partners.
  • Rob Wealth
    • Problems with building team and team motivation, unhealthy corporate culture. Not launching fast enough.
  • Direct Resource
    • Not understanding what the market wants, not enough market study done.
  • Indirect Resource
    • Lacking help and resources, if this is missing it just means you need to do a lot of things yourself and without much guidance.
  • Direct Officer
    • Lack of direction and focus, lack discipline in seeing things through. Problems with the daily operations of the company.
  • 7 Killings
    • Unable to solve people’s problems as they expected, also lacks harnessing/perfecting one skill set and lack the ability to make difficult/sharp decisions.
  • Direct Wealth
    • Unable to manage company finances. Unable to cut/save cost. Unable to manage nor delegate entire operations/staff/finances.
  • Indirect Wealth
    • Problems with company vision. Unable to raise funds or get funding. Problems with measuring everything
  • Hurting Officer
    • Problems with company branding to pull in the crowd. Lack staying power.
  • Eating God
    • Lacking long term planning, lacking creativity and evolving ideas. May have issues with the product you’re selling. Unable to design and create. –

You actually don’t need all 10 Gods to be present although the aim here is to help you to be aware of all the potential problem areas. Instead having less makes a person simpler, clearer and less complex enough to make quick calculated decisions. If there’s really something lacking that you think you need, there’s always 3 solutions:

  1. Pick it up yourself (assuming you need it, ignore it if you don’t)
  2. Hire someone in your company with that ability.
  3. Sub-con it out to someone else.
